Meet your photographer

I’m Amy and I’ve developed Truth or Dare Photo to involve clients in the art-making process that is portrait photography. I aim to recreate that secret delight we feel when we nail that perfect selfie in the bathroom mirror - and empower my clients to see themselves from new angles, with the nostalgic playfulness of friends snapping candids at sleepovers or nights out.

I’ve loved taking photos and making my art for as long as I can remember. I graduated with a degree in Design, majoring in Photography, in 2012 and have been working with clients ever since. With over a decade in wedding and editorial experience, I’ve come to find alternative portrait photography as an outlet for capturing client work while still expressing my own vision.

I’m interested in capturing people in more intimate settings, often referred to as ‘boudoir’, but I don’t find that word to be as inclusive as I’d like it to be. Truth or Dare, as a business name, captures my desire to have people show up as their authentic selves - not to be made over into someone they think they should be - sometimes that means a t-shirt with jeans, and other times that means their after-dark alter ego in fishnets.

I know how vulnerable it is to step in front of a camera; how our insecurities can take hold and our focus can shift to perceived flaws - but I also know the incredible power of seeing ourselves on the other side and how freaking fantastic it can feel to see ourselves through new perspectives when someone else takes over. For these reasons, and more, I take my role as your guide and confidant very personally. I want clients to love their photos, but the greatest compliment I can receive when someone leaves their session is expressing how comfortable they felt, and how much fun they had. The experience is as important as the final product - and I can’t wait to make art with you!
